Westville was incorporated in 1894 as a coal mining community and although the coal mines have been closed for many years, we are proud of our heritage and the community created by those early settlers.

Westville is known for our many celebrations during the year. The highlight of those being our July 1st Canada Day Celebrations. We are proud of this long-standing tradition with the distinction of hosting the longest continuous celebration of July 1st in Canada!

Westville has a very engaged citizenry who have created a great place to live, raise a family and enjoy a peaceful quality of life.

Our council, in partnership with numerous volunteer organizations, are focused on continuing to enhance the experience of living in our town with a strong sense of community spirit. 

We are looking forward to continuing our pre covid citizen engagement sessions to develop a vision of our community for the future.
